Detroit police say they shot and wounded a man who pointed a gun at officers during a foot chase.
Police say in a statement that the 22-year-old man was listed in temporary serious condition after being shot during a pursuit that began Tuesday night.
Police say the uniformed officers were on patrol in a marked squad car when they saw three males walking in the area of Beaconsfield and Haverville streets. When the officers approached them, they say the males ran in different directions. Officers were pursing one of them when he dropped a weapon.
Police say the man picked up the gun and pointed it at officers, and the officers fired at him. The officers weren't injured and the shooting is under investigation.
