Detroit police to hold press conference on teen's sexual assault

DETROIT – Detroit police will hold a 3 p.m. press conference Friday to update the case of a 15-year-old girl's sexual assault in a park on the city's west side.

Police have  released a sketch of the man wanted in connection to the assault, which happened Wednesday morning.

The girl told police the man grabbed her and sexually assaulted her just before 8 a.m. in O'Hair Park, which is just east of Henry Ford High School, which the girl attends.

Sources say the teen was walking alone to school because her usual walking partner had been killed the night before when a van struck her on 8 Mile Road at Evergreen Road.

Description of attacker:

The attacker is described as a black man standing about 5 feet 5 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a ski mask, black hoodie, and blue basketball shorts with a gray stripe. He has light brown eyes and was clean shaven. Police believe he is about 22 years old.
