DETROIT – Detroit police are trying to locate two kids who were reported missing Thursday night, and according to conflicting stories from the parents these kids may have not been seen since Tuesday.

UPDATE: 2 missing Detroit children found safe with family member

Zamar Cox, 3, and Marcia Cox, 1, were reported missing by their mother when she went to the Detroit Police Department's 12th Precinct Thursday night. She said she gave the kids to their father on Tuesday, but he said he gave them back to her that same day.

Sgt. Michael Woody said officers went to the woman's home with her and conducted a search at the apartment building in the 900 block of Whitmore Road, which is in the area of McNichols and Woodward.

"At this time we can conclude that there is no foul play within the residence that would indicate that there was any type of harm or struggle, or any type of scene," said Woody Friday morning.

Woody said both the mother and the father are being questioned by police.

"We believe the children were being handed off back and forth. There may be some other family members involved here," he said. "Hopefully somebody will recognize the photos and come forward and say that they have care and custody of these children."

Zamar is about 4 feet tall and weighs 45 pounds. He was last seen wearing gray jogging pants and a red sweatshirt. Marcia was last seen wearing a pink onesie.

Their mother told police she gave the kids to their father on Tuesday. However, he told police he gave the kids back to their mother about 5 p.m. Tuesday. Neighbors at the Palmer Park apartment complex said they have seen the kids since 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Woody said the kids aren't considered in danger at this point, which why there is no Amber Alert.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Zamar and Marcia Cox needs to call Detroit police or Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAK-UP.
