Detroit police seek 2 men in violent crime spree on west side

Men use red Dodge Durango to knock 2 victims off bikes in separate robberies

DETROIT – Detroit police are searching for a 2004-2005 red Dodge Durango and two teenagers in connection with two robberies and a shooting on the city's west side.

Police said two black men, ages 18 and 19, use the vehicle to hit victims, then rob them.

Police said the men used the SUV to hit a 38-year-old man who was walking on Fenkell Avenue near Ohio Street at 3:20 a.m. Thursday. One of the men in the Durango shot the victim, who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

A 33-year-old man was sideswiped by a red Dodge Durango at 3:50 a.m. Thursday while riding his bike on Greenfield Road near Puritan Avenue. After hitting the victim, a passenger in the SUV got out and took a book bag and money from the victim at gunpoint, police said.

A 50-year-old man was hit at 5:30 a.m. Thursday by a red Dodge Durango while riding his bike on 8 Mile Road near Burt Road. After hitting the victim, two men got out of the SUV and one of the men took a cellphone, wallet and house keys out of the victim's pocket while the other man held the victim at gunpoint, police said. The men put the victim's blue bike inside their SUV and drove away, according to authorities.
