Detroit police: Surveillance video shows suspect in deadly shooting at Ryan's Auto Parts

26-year-old man shot, killed Saturday afternoon

DETROIT – Police are asking for help in identifying a man shown in surveillance video who is sought in connection with the deadly shooting this weekend at an auto parts yard store on Detroit's west side.

A 26-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday at Ryan's Auto Parts in the 9300 block of Hubbell Avenue. Police said the shooting happened about 4:20 p.m.

Police said the man was shot multiple times in the parking lot. A customer who tried to avoid the gunfire took off in his vehicle and accidentally ran over the victim after he was shot, police said.

The gunman wore a black, hooded jacket, light gray pants and shoes. The surveillance video shows him just moments before the deadly shooting.

Police said he possibly escaped the area in a gold Oldsmobile or Alero.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit police’s Homicide Unit at 313-596-5672 or Crimes Stoppers at 800-Speak Up.
