DETROIT – Detroit police said a 19-year-old woman was hit with a tree branch before being carjacked early Tuesday morning outside a gas station.
The incident happened just before 4 a.m. in the 6000 block of Livernois Avenue.

Police said the woman parked her green Honda Element outside the gas station and went inside. When she came out, a man hit her in the leg with the branch, causing her to fall. He then took off in her car.
Police said the woman was not seriously hurt. The Element's Michigan license plate is CPK7828.
Police describe the carjacker as a black man, 25 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, heavy set at 260 pounds with a medium complexion. He was wearing a black and white hat, orange shirt and dark-colored pants.
