DETROIT – The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy has announced that Detroit River Days will return this summer along the Detroit riverfront from June 21 to June 23.

Presented by Soaring Eagle, the conservancy says more than 150,000 people attended the three-day festival in 2012. The festival is considered the annual kickoff to summer for thousands of Detroit residents and visitors, said the conservancy.

The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy says event organizers are finalizing details to ensure the 7th annual Detroit River Days held this year will be the best one yet.

"Detroit River Days gives us the opportunity to showcase our riverfront and all its tremendous vibrancy on a much larger scale to the region and to the world," said Faye Alexander Nelson, president and CEO of the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy.

The conservancy says this year's festival will celebrate Detroit's maritime, ecological and culinary culture, along with providing family-friendly activities and programming elements from previous festivals.

"This year's festival promises to be a memorable one," said Nelson. "We're looking forward to the community coming to Detroit River Days and celebrating with us 10 years of revitalizing the riverfront."

Detroit River Days will feature this year:

  • interactive exhibits
  • large-scale sand sculptures
  • strolling entertainers
  • eco-friendly kids' zones
  • carnival rides

The festival will feature live concerts with performances from more than fifty local, national and international music acts. Detroit River Days will also include yet-to-be-announced enhancements and new components.

The conservancy says additional details on the festival's highlights, including an announcement on the musical performances each evening and a celebration of the conservancy's 10-year anniversary, will be announced in the coming months.
