DETROIT – A Detroit man targeted by a group of would-be robbers returned gunfire and killed a teenager Saturday night.
The 50-year-old man was at his car at the Grandland shopping center on Grand River Avenue at Fenkell Avenue, just west of the Southfield freeway, when four young men approached him. They demanded the man get out of his car. Before he could get out, shots were fired. The intended victim has a license to carry a weapon and he shot back.

A 17-year-old, who was one of the four who confronted him, was shot and killed.
Theo Page was entering a store and heard the gunshots.
"I got right over there to the door and heard about eight shots, and so I ducked. What was really scary was to find out somebody was actually hit over there and that's I guess when it really hits you," Page said.
The three other men ran off.
No one else was injured.
Police have not yet released the names of the shooting victim or the intended robbery victim.
The investigation continues.
