Members of the Downtown Detroit Runners and Walkers club met at McShane's Bar at Michigan Avenue and Trumbull Street. Some club members ran in Boston on Monday and finished before the explosions happened.

"It was joyous for a few moments and then, I'd finished about 5 minutes earlier and I was being handed my medal, and I heard an explosion behind me. Everyone turned and looked, and then there was another. And then smoke filled the streets. And then people started to panic," said Ann Kurtis, of Livonia, who ran the Boston Marathon.

Those who were in Boston praised organizers, volunteers and first responders for their efforts after the blasts.
