Detroit salutes veterans with parade Saturday

DETROIT – The 10th annual Veterans Day Parade to honor veterans took place Saturday morning in Detroit.

The parade began at 10 a.m. and a festival followed at Hart Plaza.

The parade is part of two weeks of events planned around Veterans Day.

Wayne County Executive Warren Evans says in a statement the county's participation in the events "expands the reach of our programs and allows us to personally thank the veterans for the sacrifices they have made to protect the freedoms we now enjoy."

Other events include the Detroit Police Department's Veterans Day Parade on Wednesday as well as resource events and a job fair.
