Detroit woman desperate to find missing husband

Ramon Gallego last seen at motel in Melvindale

DETROIT – Ester Gallego is desperate to find her missing husband, 30-year-old Ramon Gallego.

"He's a good, caring man," said Ester Gallego, who spoke to Local 4 outside her southwest Detroit home. "He would do anything to help anyone and now I am the one that needs help."

Ramon has been missing for more than a week.

The couple was married in August, but due to family issues, Ramon Gallego has been living in Melvindale at The Moonlight Motel on Dix Road. The motel is the last place the wife says she saw her husband on the evening of Sept. 21.

"The motel manager said he (Ramon Gallego) was there that night and by the morning his truck was gone and there was nothing," said Ester Gallego. "But his motel room was just the way he left it the last time I saw him."

On Sept. 22, at 1:15 a.m., the 1994 Chevy pickup truck that Ramon Gallego would have been driving was involved in a hit-and-run accident at Elsmere and Woodmere streets in Detroit, less than four  miles away from the motel.

Broken headlights and tire treads are still visible, but was Ramon Gallego behind the wheel? His wife says no.

"I'm saying its stolen because he would never leave his cell phone in the car," she said. "Police said there was a lot of beer in the car and Ramon was responsible."

Detroit Police told Local 4 that when officers arrived at the accident scene, there wasn't a driver. Police still do not know who caused the accident and the truck was never reported stolen.

Ester Gallego filed a missing persons report with the 4th Precinct in Southwest Detroit four days after she last saw her husband. She said he's never disappeared before, for one major reason.

"I know something's wrong because we have to report to immigration every Thursday," said Gallego. "We are working on fixing his papers, if we don't go he gets a phone call."

Ester Gallego said he hasn't reported to work or contacted any of his family in Mexico.

Ramon is 5 feet 5 inches tall, 205 pounds with brown eyes. He was last wearing jeans, a black shirt that says "Detroit" and gray tennis shoes. Â
