Did your zodiac sign change?

NASA post causes panic across internet

DETROIT – The internet exploded with confusion last week when a page on NASA's website showed "changing" zodiac signs.

The article referenced a 13th zodiac sign, called Ophiuchus, which is one of the 13 constellations in ancient Babylonian stories, according to the Huffington Post.

"To make a tidy match with their 12-month calendar, the Babylonians ignored the fact that the sun actually moves through 13 constellations, not 12," NASA posted on Tumblr. "Then they assigned each of those 12 constellations equal amounts of time."

NASA reminded everyone that zodiac signs were created by humans and aren't actually based on science.

"No one has shown that astrology can be used to predict the future or describe what people are like based on their birth dates," NASA posted.

For anyone panicking over the changing zodiac signs, NASA had some words of reassurance.

"Here at NASA, we study astronomy, not astrology," NASA posted. "We didn’t change any zodiac signs, we just did the math."
