Divers pull teen's body from water at Metamora-Hadley State Recreation Area

METAMORA, Mich. – Divers pulled the body of 17-year-old Troy Paxton from Lake Minnewanna Thursday evening at the Metamora-Hadley State Recreation Area.

A spokesman at the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office said they got a call about 3:30 p.m. Thursday that two kids were swimming across the lake. One of the kids went under the water while the other was able to make it to shore.

Paxton's body was pulled from the water about 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

Detective Sgt. Jason Parks said the part of the lake the kids were trying to swim across is quite a distance.

Metamora-Hadley State Recreation Area is off of Baldwin Road about 23 miles north of Auburn Hills.
