DNA test busts man who bit officer 2 years ago

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A man who's already behind bars in Macomb County for trying to carjack a young woman just found out that his saliva has landed him in even more trouble.

Deitrich Sanders was already being held on a million-dollar bond after he was accused of grabbing Kara Jones and trying to carjack her Jeep in her own driveway. Jones said Sanders pulled out an Uzi and pointed it at her husband.

Sanders didn't get the Jeep. He ran, but Roseville police busted him less than a mile away.

But Sanders' spit gave him away in another case. Harper Woods police had a run-in with him two years ago at a gas station, when Sanders was was caught with 100 rocks of crack and got into a fight with one of the officers. He bit an officer before he got away.

Police had no idea who he was until the DNA taken after the carjacking incident matched the DNA swabbed off that officer's jacket.

So now Sanders faces charges for carjacking, crack cocaine and assaulting an officer.
