WARREN, Mich. – A criminal complaint filed against a man who was shot while robbing a bank in Warren on Monday reveals more details about what allegedly happened.
According to the complaint, Henry Mann, 43, walked into the Citizens Bank on Van Dyke and asked a teller to set up an account.
As the teller turned to go get a banker to help Mann, Mann pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the teller. Mann then also pointed the gun at a customer who was in front of the teller and told him to put his hands up, according to the complaint.
Mann tried to force the customer behind the banking counter by grabbing him by the back of his neck.
Mann then pulled out a plastic bag and demanded money from the bank employees, telling them not to give him any dye packs, according to the complaint.
The bank employees filled the bag with an undisclosed amount of money and Mann started to walk out of the bank, according to the complaint.
The customer, who has a concealed pistol license, shot the Mann several times, police said.
Mann walked out of the bank and collapsed on the sidewalk before police arrived and took him into custody. The money and a Colt handgun were recovered.
Mann suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said he had covered his fingertips with tape to try to conceal his fingerprints, according to the complaint.
Police said Mann also has a criminal history that includes convictions for second-degree murder and assault.
