Dogs, cats rescued from burning Eastpointe apartment

1 cat dies in Gratiot Avenue blaze

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – Firefighters rescued two dogs and two cats trapped in a burning apartment Saturday in Eastpointe.

It happened at an apartment above Jacquese Closet, a clothing store on Gratiot Avenue between Forest and Wilson avenues.

Firefighters were unable to save one cat.

Investigators told Local 4 News that no one was injured in the fire.

The Eastpointe Fire Department said the fire was contained to the apartment unit. There was some water damage to the business below.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
