Donations needed for American Flags at Hart Plaza

$30,000 still needed for 'Operation Hart Plaza'

DETROIT – More donations are still needed to fund 'Operation Hart Plaza', a project to pay tribute to veterans by raising American Flags at Detroit's Hart Plaza.

Operation Hart Plaza is a fundraising effort led by Revolution Flag Group, a Southeast Michigan Flag and Flagpole Company. The project aims to fly a total of 20 flags at Hart Plaza.

So far, the project has raised $22,000.

Chapter 9 Vietnam Veterans of America made a generous donation to the project.

Five flags are flying, but $30,000 dollars is still needed to complete the project. Donations will go toward repairing 15 more flagpoles and installing 15 more flags by June 1.

If the remaining donations are made, there will be a special unveiling of the flags on June 14, which is Flag Day.

The flag poles in Hart Plaza had not flown American Flags in 14 years.
