DETROIT -

Former patients of a Detroit-area doctor accused of intentionally misdiagnosing cancer in a health care fraud scheme are planning to hold a support meeting this week.

Those who were patients of Dr. Farid Fata will be meeting between 7 and 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Concorde Inn on Star-Batt Drive in Rochester Hills.

Free coffee and water will be available in the banquet room. The hotel is right across the street from the Cancer Center.

The government says Fata ripped off Medicare for millions of dollars by giving chemotherapy to patients who didn't need it and diagnosing cancer when the illness wasn't apparent.
