Drive-by shooting in west Detroit leaves pregnant woman in critical condition

25-year-old woman struck when gunmen opens fire on houst on Rockdale Street

DETROIT – Neighbors describe a drive-by shooting where shots hit a home on Rockdale Street on Detroit's west side.

On Monday morning, Denise Waller was still shaken by the violence.

"If you're asleep like we were and gunshots go off, you don't know what to do other than hit the deck, or what?" she said.

The shots hit a home, shattered windows and found the gunman's apparent target: a 25-year-old woman standing in the front room. She is 7 months pregnant and now in critical condition at a hospital. She was shot in her stomach and thigh. Police say her unborn child is not in any danger.

"She didn't deserve it. She's too much of a nice person. There's no reason that baby should have to go through this," said Waller.
