Police chase with 1-month-old in SUV ends in Detroit

Chase started in Grosse Pointe Farms

GROSSE POINTE FARMS, Mich. – Officers from the Grosse Pointe Farms Police Department have a person in custody this morning after allegedly fleeing from police with a baby in the vehicle on Alter near Jefferson Ave.

Police tell Local 4, the driver, at one point, was doing at least 60 mile per hour on Jefferson.  During the chase police were able lay down stop sticks flattening multiple tires on the SUV.

The chase began around 3 a.m. in Grosse Pointe Farms and ended at the McDonald's on Jefferson and Crane on Grosse Pointe Park- Detroit border. 

Officers found a one-month-old baby boy in a car seat in the SUV. Police say the baby is in good condition as was being cared for by police as they attempt to locate family members.
