Driver injured after crashing into cemetery fence

Car and van collide on Detroit's east side

The driver was injured after a car crashed into a cemetery fence on Detroit's east side Sunday afternoon.

DETROIT – One driver was injured when two vehicles collided Sunday on Detroit's east side.

Police reported a car and a van were traveling on Van Dyke Avenue near Lynch Road when they made contact. The car crossed the center line and crashed into the fence of a cemetery.

The driver of the van was not injured, but the driver of the car that struck the fence was hurt and was listed in critical condition Sunday evening.

The driver of the car was not wearing a seatbelt.

Detroit police continue to investigate the accident.
