Driver trapped in truck after crashing into live wires in Detroit

Officials say driver could be trapped until sunrise

DETROIT – A driver is trapped in his truck in southwest Detroit because it is draped with wires that are believed to be live, officials said.

The truck is trapped on the Clark Street overpass, where he hit the utility pole and got caught up on the pole itself.

Officials said there is still electricity running through the pole, so the driver was told to stay in the truck.

A heavy rain was also falling while the driver sat trapped in the truck.

DTE Energy said the service line belongs to the city of Detroit. Detroit officials went to the scene and said they couldn't do anything because it's an underground feed. They're going to call a special crew to help with the issue.

The driver could be stuck at the scene until sunrise, police said.
