Drunk man arrested for kicking officers in head

Police used Taser to control suspect

INDEPENDENCE TWP., Mich. – A 26-year-old man from Shelby Township was arrested at 3:50 a.m. Monday after trying to avoid being taken into custody by police.

Police responded to the 2500 block of Mann Road for a man knocking on the doors of nearby residents. When police found the man he was drunk and angry and trying to climb a fence to get onto I-75.

While police were trying to put the man into a patrol car, the suspect kicked one deputy in the face and another one in the head. The man continued to fight and wouldn't follow orders, so an officer used a Taser to control him.

The complainant reported that the suspect had kicked in her screen door.

The man was arrested on charges of resisting and obstructing a police officer, malicious destruction of property and assault on a police officer.
