DETROIT, Mich. -

An early morning standoff in Detroit ends peacefully after a Detroit Police negotiator talks a barricaded gunman into surrendering.

Police were called to the neighborhood Thursday morning after neighbors heard shots fired from inside a house on Burlingame and Prairie streets on Detroit's west side.

Police tell Local 4 that the suspect was drinking alcohol and a history of medical issues.  Detroit Police SWAT found several guns inside his house.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.
