Eastern Michigan regents approve 2-year contract extension, raise for school's president
Susan Martin gets 2.7 percent pay increase, will stay with university through July 2015
Eastern Michigan University President Susan Martin has received a 2-year contract extension from the Ypsilanti school's Board of Regents.
The extension through July 7, 2015 was approved Friday during a special board meeting. She also received a 2-year contract extension in 2010.
Martin gets a 2.7 percent pay increase, bringing her annual salary to $300,000. When she was hired in 2008, Martin earned $285,000.
Board chair Francine Parker credits Martin with leading Eastern Michigan through a "5-year period of significant growth in enrollment, academic success and major upgrades to campus buildings and the university's infrastructure."
Eastern Michigan's incoming undergraduate class numbered 5,076 last fall. The school has about 23,500 students.
The school also is completing a $210 million, 5-year campus revitalization project.
