DETROIT – Donald Trump's presidency is expected to be made official Monday as the electoral college is set to cast votes.
Crews already have begun building the inauguration stage, even though the inauguration is more than a month away. On Monday, 538 electors will gather in their respective state capitals to vote.
Hillary Clinton won the popular vote on election night, but president-elect Trump got more than the 270 electoral votes needed for a victory.
Trump's team said Democrats are trying to delegitimize the election. There is concern about Russia hacking Clinton staffer emails. Clinton's campaign manager questions whether the election was fair.
"Well, I think it was distorted by the Russian intervention. Let's put it that way," said John Podesta, former Clinton campaign manager.
A poll by NBC News and the Wall Street Journal shows 55 percent of Americans are concerned about Russia's interference in the election. However, Trump's handlers say there is no evidence the hacking swayed votes.
Michigan's 16 presidential electors are scheduled to cast their votes 2 p.m. Monday at the Michigan Capitol in Lansing.
