EMU loses as players honor murdered teammate

Eastern Michigan University played on Saturday without murdered team member

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan Eagles lost to the Ohio Bobcats Saturday at Rynearson Stadium.

The final score was 28 to 56.

Saturday's game was the first time the Eagles played since team member Demarius Reed was found murdered Friday.

Reed, 20, was found dead with gunshot wounds in an off-campus apartment building about 7 a.m. Friday by a roommate in the University Green apartment complex.

Police are calling his death a homicide.

According to the university's athletic profile on Reed, he was a wide receiver for the team and is from Chicago.

He was majoring in communications, media and theater arts.
