DETROIT - It's the last day of Winter! Good riddance, Old Man Winter.
We are seeing hit and miss rain out there around metro Detroit. A warm front is moving north into the Thumb Region and that is where we are seeing the most rain midday. As we warm to near 50 degrees, the winds are starting to crank up and we will be tracking scattered rain and isolated thundershowers through the afternoon and evening.
Winds are coming from the SW at10-20 miles per hour and gusting closer to 25 or 30 miles per hour at times. Anyone in flood-prone areas needs to keep a watchful eye on your conditions as a few of these showers are capable of heavier downpours.
Chance for light snow:
There is a chance for some light snow later this evening into early Thursday morning on the cooler back side of that storm system. But, nothing more than a dusting is likely which will melt very quickly.
Our computer models are showing signs of a few light snow flare ups through lunch tomorrow. But highs Thursday will rebound back to 40 degrees with breezy conditions. The official start of Spring is 12:57 p.m. Thursday.
Friday will be mild with highs in the low to mid 40s with only partly sunny skies. There is another chance for a light rain/snow mix early Saturday.
