Ex-Troy Athens asst. band director appears in court for child porn charges

DETROIT – The father of Eric Junod looked heartbroken Wednesday when leaving federal court.

The details of what his son is accused of are horrifying.

Eric Junod worked as the assistant band director at Troy Athens High School, giving him unlimited access to children. When he was at home he allegedly was keeping a dark secret.

In a criminal complaint, the FBI says they found Junod was downloading sickening photos of 3-year-old girls being molested by men on child pornography websites.

They executed a search warrant at his Holly, Mich. home on Monday. The feds say Junod had 600 images of child porn. They say he admitted to using the images of girls, boys and toddlers. He is accused of partaking in graphic online chats with children and sending graphic images of himself.

He's also accused of inappropriately touching a 12-month-old girl.

At his detention hearing Wednesday afternoon inside federal court, Junod consented to remain in detention. When the magistrate asked him if he indeed wanted to remain locked up, he said, "That is correct."

Staying in detention means federal investigators won't go even deeper into more graphic details of evidence. Junod likely wants to keep that under wraps until trial.
