Facebook fight ends with 2 innocent bystanders shot in Detroit, police say

Police say fight was over a girl

DETROIT – Detroit police say two men who were shot Tuesday night were innocent victims caught in the middle of a feud between two rival groups of high school students.

The men, both in their 20s, were shot on Fairmount Drive near Kelly Road on the city's east side.

Deputy Police Chief Renee Hall said the men were caught in the crossfire that started as a feud on Facebook over a girl.

"The incident started regarding two different rival groups, one who identifies with Blessed Gang and the other who identifies with GGNK. These individuals are actually rivaling over a girl," Hall said. "There's a girl who is dating one individual from both groups and there was some type of altercation."

Hall said investigators are following a trail on social media to find who fired the shots.

The victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
