Family of slain Navy veteran, father want help to find his killer

Christopher Stinson shot May 2013 near Lahser, Grand River

DETROIT – Although more than a year has passed since 27-year-old Christopher Stinson's death, his family continues to feel the pain and look for answers.

Stinson, a Navy veteran, son, husband and father, was shot and killed May 8, 2013, as he walked back from a gas station near Lahser and Grand River.

Speaking at a Crime Stoppers press conference Wednesday, Stinson's family said they hope someone will come forward with information.

"I know somebody out there in the neighborhood knows something about what happened to Chris the night he got killed," said Stinson's father, Carl.

The family said Stinson joined the Navy when he was 17 and served during 9/11. He left behind his high-school-sweetheart-turned-wife, Toya, and two children.
