Family seeks justice in woman's deadly hit-and-run in Detroit

47-year-old Randa Anderson killed when car hit her, dragged her in March on Carter Street

DETROIT – The sun had been down for about an hour on Friday the 13th this past March and no street lights were on down Carter Street.

Randa Anderson, 47, was walking in the street when a white car drove through and didn't stop -- not even when it hit Anderson and dragged her up the block.

"Someone knows what happened. There's no way a person can get out of a car, come around to the back of the car, look at it, say, 'What did I hit?' and not see a person who was dragged from in front of her house to the end of a corner and not know," said her sister, Eugena Anderson.

Witnesses say a woman got out of the car -- possibly a white Chrysler 300 or Cadillac -- looked around and asked, "Did I hit something?" before driving away.

"Have a heart and turn yourself in. We're really taking this real hard and it's just senseless that people go out here and do things like this and just don't care," said Anderson's brother, Kelvin Anderson.

Randa's sister Ora Winbush just found out she's cancer-free and wishes her sister could have celebrated with her. She also would have celebrated another run for president by Hillary Clinton, since the two worked on her last campaign together.

"We campaigned in Detroit and Ohio, so I just hate to see that she's not here to (campaign) again," said Winbush.

This family's search for justice depends on the public's help. You can call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-SPEAK-UP. The reward is $2,500 and it's $3,500 if your tip comes in by midnight.
