Farmington Hills church donation box stolen

Police investigating string of donation box thefts

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Police are investigating a string of church donation box thefts in Oakland County.

The latest theft was March 31 at Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament church in Farmington Hills.

"Even though their was people at the desk, he grabbed the donation box we kept there. Police say the man seen on the security camera matches the description of a person responsible for a number of similar crimes in the neighboring area," said Sister Faustina Marie.

The sister says she believes he took $50 from the church.

"We live our life predominately by giving, we literally beg for our income," she said.

A crime alert bulletin is being sent to every house of worship in Farmington Hills and police are asking anyone who might be able to identity the thief to call them.
