Farmington Hills superintendent's letter to parents regarding substitute teacher sex charge

As you know the safety and well being of our students is paramount. We want to inform you of an incident that recently occurred in the District.

On the evening of Tuesday, March 19, the District was notified of a complaint alleging inappropriate conduct by a substitute teacher who worked at Hillside Elementary School on March 19.  The substitute was immediately blocked from subbing in the District pending the outcome of the District's investigation.

On the morning of Wednesday, March 20, the District initiated an investigation that included interviews with parents and students and as a result of that investigation a report was filed with the Michigan Department of Human Services.

On March 27, the Farmington Hills Police Department notified the District that the substitute teacher had been arrested as a result of this incident. Today, March 29, the District was notified that the individual was formally charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) – 2nd Degree (sexual contact).

Because this matter is likely to draw media attention we wanted to alert you to the situation.We will continue to work with the Farmington Hills Police Department with their investigation. We remain diligent in providing a safe and secure environment for our students and staff.
