DETROIT -

The FBI and Detroit police are asking for the public's help in the search for a serial bank robber given the nickname "Scarface."

The man is believed to have committed at least four bank robberies in the Detroit suburbs between Aug. 30 and Sept. 20. The robberies were in Sterling Heights, Clinton Township, Imlay City and Auburn Hills.

In each of the robberies, the suspect entered the bank and presented a demand note to a teller. The man may have been driving a gray or silver sport utility vehicle or sedan.

He has been nicknamed "Scarface" by law enforcement because surveillance images show him wearing a T-shirt from the popular action film.

There is a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of this man.

Members of the public should not try to apprehend this suspect, the FBI says.

Anyone with information may contact the FBI 24 hours a day at 313-965-2323.
