DEARBORN, Mich. – Firefighters worked to contain and douse flames Monday afternoon at the AK Steel Dearborn Works plant in Dearborn.
A conveyor belt at the plant's blast furnace caught fire, said AK Steel spokesman Barry Racey. He said the fire was under control.
No injuries were reported.
Local 4 received several calls and emails from people in the area who reported a thick black smoke billowing from the plant.
AK Steel purchased the Dearborn plant from Severstal last year.
