Flights diverted to Detroit Metro Airport due to bad weather in Chicago

Planes from United Airlines, British Airlines, Emirates, Swiss land in Detroit

DETROIT – Flights were diverted to Detroit Metropolitan Airport because of bad weather in Chicago, authorities said.

Some of the airlines affected Saturday afternoon included United Airlines, British Airlines, Emirates and Swiss International Air Lines as their planes landed in Detroit.

Firetrucks were staged near two of the flights due to being refueled out on the ramp.

The planes were released at the airport after 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
