Forecast: 1 more cool day for metro Detroit

Then a nice stretch of weather!

DETROIT – It's going to be a chilly one, with lows in the low 50s in the heart of the metro area, and even some mid to upper 40s in the farther northern and western suburbs.

Although some of us will start our Wednesday with some sunshine, skies will become partly sunny once again (just like today), with some scattered showers popping up during the afternoon. Highs in the upper 60s and, if we don't get above 70, we'll break our July 16th record for lowest high temperature on record (70, set back in 1896). West-northwest wind at 8 to 12 mph. Gradual clearing will commence Wednesday night, with lows in the mid 50s.

Mostly sunny on Thursday, with highs in the mid 70s. Mostly clear Thursday night, with lows in the mid to upper 50s.

Mostly sunny again on Friday, with highs in the upper 70s to near 80. Mostly clear to partly cloudy Friday night, with lows near 60.

Today's computer models still make it a close call with an upper level disturbance this weekend, but I think we'll remain dry -- our 9th consecutive nice summer weekend! There are no statistics kept about "consecutive nice summer weekends" but, if there was, I'll bet we'd be close to a record! Right now, let's call Saturday partly cloudy, as we get skirted by some mid level moisture from that disturbance. Highs near 80. Partly cloudy Saturday night, with lows in the low 60s.

Partly cloudy to mostly sunny, with highs in the low 80s. Mostly clear Sunday night, with lows in the mid 60s.

Monday and Tuesday both look mostly sunny, as well, with highs in the mid 80s and Monday and the mid to upper 80s on Tuesday.
