Forecast: Cool, dry, sunny Wednesday in metro Detroit

Temps will start to climb this week

DETROIT – Cold air is with us all day, but at least we're getting some sun and lighter winds.

Highs will hover near 30 degrees this afternoon with winds WSW 5-12 mph. Clouds are developing but we will stay dry today. Those clouds help temps from dropping too cold overnight as we should see lows staying in the low 20s.

Thursday forecast:

Metro Detroit will have low 40s on Thursday but not until late afternoon and evening.  A storm moving up from the south looks like mainly rain for us tomorrow but may start as a wintry mix or snow around 10 or 11am. We'll hit the upper 30s in the afternoon which means plain rain showers and our high temp around 42 degrees tomorrow may not come until early evening.

Friday forecast:

There will be scattered light rain early part of Friday before it clears in the mid to late morning. Highs in the upper 40s will come early as cooler air rushes back in through the afternoon. This system will bring breezy conditions to SE Michigan the next couple of days as well.

Weekend forecast:

Saturday is tricky as computer models call for a chance of a wintry mix early in the day and then mostly cloudy with highs climbing back to near 40 degrees.

The outlook for Sunday and Monday (Opening Day at Comerica Park) looks good in the upper 40s Sunday to low 50s Monday with a slight chance for a light shower Monday during the later part of the Tigers' game.
