DETROIT – We finally broke above zero at 10 a.m. Wednesday, ending a streak of 42 straight hours with subzero temps.
And, you know wind chills from 4 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Wednesday were -10 to -40 degrees and this is why we still have major problems on the roads and in many of our homes. Temps are starting to warm a bit Wednesday with highs in the mid-teens and light winds. Cold sunshine will mix with partly cloudy skies but we will be mainly dry. Some of our western suburbs may see a few lake effect flurries.
There is a bit of snow south into Indiana and Ohio but it will likely hold off until late Wednesday and early Thursday before it moves into SE Michigan. It's light snow and won't likely stack up to much.
The next chance for snow is late on Thursday or more likely early. Thursday will be dry with highs in the low 20s. The latest model data is bringing snow in for the morning commute Friday. That snow will be light and won't last all day. One of our computer models hints at more of a Friday morning snow of less than 1 inch of fresh snow and dry as we head into the afternoon.
We should have temps near 35 degrees Friday and warming into the 40s this Saturday. A storm on the way means we will start the weekend with some rain.
