Forecast: Some Wednesday rain in metro Detroit

Weather picture improves after Wednesday rain

DETROIT – It will be mostly clear to partly cloudy overnight, with lows in the mid 50s.

Wednesday starts with a dry morning rush hour, and even some filtered sunshine. Clouds will rapidly increase, however, with rain approaching the area by lunchtime, so grab both the shades and the umbrella when you leave for work.

The weather system passing to our south is a very dynamic one, with severe storms possible south of Michigan if you are traveling in that direction. Here in our area, it just looks like "regular" rain, with heaviest amounts near the state line, and diminishing amounts the farther north you head. Highs only in the mid to upper 60s. Northeast wind at 5 to 10 mph.

Rain ends early Wednesday evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Lows near 50.

Partly cloudy to mostly sunny on Thursday. Highs in the upper 60s. Mostly clear Thursday night. Lows in the upper 40s.

Mostly sunny Friday, with highs in the mid 70s. Mostly clear Friday night, with lows in the mid 50s.

Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid to upper 70s. Saturday looks like a perfect day for the Susan B. Komen Race 4 The Cure taking place downtown, as well as for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life events around town. I personally will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of winning my tough 1989 cancer battle -- come say hi at the West Bloomfield Relay For Life at West Bloomfield High School!

Increasing clouds Saturday night with rain developing. Lows in the upper 50s.

Rain likely, especially during the first half of the day on Sunday. With any luck, perhaps the rain will end in time to salvage some time to barbecue dinner. Highs in the mid 70s.

Then mostly sunny both Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the low 70s on Monday, and mid-to-upper 70s on Tuesday.
