Former Wayne County executive aide facing corruption charges expected to make plea

Former Wayne County assistant executive Michael Grundy to make plea in extortion, kickbacks, money laundering charges

DETROIT – Former Wayne County assistant executive Michael Grundy is scheduled to appear in District Court for a plea hearing while he faces charges of extortion and accepting kickbacks when he was at the helm of the county's health care program.

Grundy was fired from his post as aide to county Executive Robert Ficano. In 2012, he was indicted on seven additional charges including money laundering and conspiracy to launder money.

Keith Griffin, who was originally charged with Grundy, pleaded guilty to charges. He was expected to testify against Grundy.

Grundy is expected to be in court the morning of June 4 for a guilty plea. It's not clear what charges he will plead guilty to.
