Fourth of July shootings in Inkster kill 2, hurt 1 other

Victim found shot behind 'Fast Franks' party store, other victims shot on Hickory Street

INKSTER, Mich. – Inkster police said the Fourth of July holiday was marred by three shootings.

Police said a man was found shot in the head at 9:30 p.m. behind Fast Franks party store at Inkster Road and New York Street. Family members identified the man as Brian Walker and said he died at the hospital.

At about 11:30 p.m., police said a man was found shot dead at at 4341 Hickory Street. There was evidence at the scene that another person had been shot, but a second victim was not found. However, police said a hospital later reported that a woman had come in for help after being shot. She is expected to be OK.

Police are asking for anyone with information on the shootings to call the department or Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAKUP.
