4 suspects arrested in connection with Warren home invasion, assault

WARREN, Mich. – Four suspects were arrested late Thursday after a Warren widow was tied up and robbed in the middle of the night.

The 71-year-old woman woke up around 5 a.m. Thursday to a flashlight in her face and robbers in her home.

Police have all the suspects in custody, including one who was nabbed at a local Applebee's.

Warren and Centerline police got the tip that led them to a Harding Street home. While under surveillance, they spotted three suspects take off from the house in a white Jaguar. Police moved in and arrested them and then went in to find multiple items from multiple home invasions and thefts at Warren and Centerline homes.

Three hours later, police walked into the Applebee's at 12 Mile and Van Dyke and took a fourth suspect into custody.

"I just noticed the police officer come in," said Ray, a man who had been inside the restaurant, eating with his family. "You could see he had on a bulletproof vest and his weapon at his side, and whatever went down, they did it very discreetly."

Other customers told Local 4 News the suspect who was arrested had been working there. Police said all four men are responsible for targeting the 71-year-old woman, whose identity we're concealing for her safety.

"Someone just took all of my belongings," the woman can be heard saying in a 911 call.

The suspects also appear to have targeted her neighbor's home, and store surveillance cameras caught two of the thieves using her bank card at a nearby Walmart shortly after the theft.

The woman's son told Local 4 he's disgusted.

"She's a retired widow who lives by herself," he said. "It's crazy, man."
