Fraser man charged for allegedly running over kitten on purpose

Witnesses say Justin Samuel Coppola ran over kitten, threw it out of car while driving

FRASER, Mich. – A Fraser man is charged with a two year felony among other charges for allegedly running a kitten over in a parking lot on purpose.

According to witnesses, Justin Samuel Coppola, 20, of Fraser, was in the parking lot of the Woodhaven Meijers when he tossed a kitten under his car and attempted to run it over.

Police say Coppola then took the kitten, drove away at a high rate of speed and threw it out of his moving vehicle on King Road near Millbury Drive.

Coppola was arrested after concerned witnesses called police.

Prosecutors are charging Coppola with torturing an animal, a two-year felony, animal cruelty and reckless driving -- both misdemeanors.

Police were unable to find the kitten and its condition is not known.

Coppola was arraigned Friday in 33rd District Court and bond was set at $50,000.
