FRASER, Mich. – Fraser police arrested a 39-year-old man Monday who, police say, was trying to break into homes and has a history of doing so.

Officers were conducting surveillance in a residential neighborhood after several reports of home invasions. One resident told police he confronted a man, who was later identified by police as Joseph Lacroix, breaking a window and trying to climb into his home.

Lacroix fled the home on foot but officers caught up to him. He was arrested and, according to police, admitted to trying to break into the house. Police say he also told officers he was using heroin.

Lacroix is charged with home invasion 1st degree, which is a 20-year felony. He was arraigned Tuesday and is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Police say Lacroix spent about 7 years in prison for a home invasion conviction. He was released on parole in 2014. A parole hold has been placed on him.

Fraser police are investigating whether he was responsible for other recent home invasion.
