Fraser police shoot suspect after chase ending in Clinton Township

15 Mile and Kelly closed for shooting investigation

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Fraser police were involved in a chase Wednesday morning that ended with officers shooting a suspect.

The chase began in Fraser and ended at 15 Mile and Kelly roads in Clinton Township.

The 29-year-old driver of the Ford Mustang pursued by officers was shot.

The Mustang allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and was boxed in. Police said the driver continued to ram police vehicles.

Sources say the driver was conscious and alert as he was being put into an ambulance.

The reason for the chase is unknown.

The driver pleaded guilty to OWI and misdeanor animal abuse in January 2011. Charges of fleeing police, assaulting an officer and driving on a suspended license were dismissed.

In February 2011, the driver was charged with fleeing police and the charge was dismissed.

He pleaded guilty to OWI and driving with a suspended license in November of 2014.

Eastbound and westbound lanes of 15 Mile Road are closed at Kelly Road.
