Frigid start but getting warmer through the weekend

Highs in the mid 30s

DETROIT – A chilly start with temps in the teens and low 20s as you head out and about. There may be some icy patches on some roads from Thursday snow and a quick cool down. Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies today with highs in the mid 30s to near 40 degrees. Winds are light SW 5-10 mph and we will see some scattered light snow or flurries in a few spots this afternoon without any accumulation.

Saturday will be tricky with a clipper system bringing a light snow chance north of Detroit and likely out of our viewing area. So, look for partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies and another day in the upper 30s as winds pick up SW 5-15 mph gusting a bit stronger. Sunday looks calm with highs in the low 40s possible under partly sunny skies.

The weather gets a little more active Monday and Tuesday next week with snow that could lay down an inch or two. We have light snow chances each day next week, but no big snows around Metro Detroit. Before you head out, get the FREE Local4Casters Weather and Storm Pins apps free in your app store under WDIV.
