General Motors has announced it will eliminate a shift at its Warren assembly plant, that currently makes transmissions.
The Detroit based automaker has not yet released how many jobs will be affected in the cut that is expected to take place in late June.

It is expected the looming cuts may wipe out half of the 600 jobs at the plant.
Since November 2016, GM has eliminated a shift of work at five U.S. plants including this announcement, eliminating a total of 5,000 jobs. This includes the cutting of shifts at Lansing and Detroit-Hamtramck.
Around 700 of the workers who have been laid off are expected to get their positions back in early 2018 when GM will ramp up production.
