General Motors Co. said Monday its September U.S. sales jumped 19.6 percent on heavy demand for pickup trucks.
GM sold a total of 207,145 vehicles in September, up from 173,155 in the same month last year.
Demand for the Detroit-based automaker's Silverado pickup trucks jumped 35.7 percent to 43,698 vehicles.
Sales of the Equinox small sport utility vehicle jumped 32.9 percent to 15,497, while demand for the Impala sedan rose 13.4 percent to 13,822. Sales of the Cruze small car more than tripled to 18,097.
Deliveries to retail customers rose 19 percent in September, while fleet sales increased 22 percent.
